How the installation goes
Visit
We look at the room, where the condenser goes outside, where the line set runs and where the power comes from.
Quote
You get the price in writing, with the equipment, materials and labor. If it needs a new electrical circuit, we tell you up front. [Confirm with Yoel whether he does it or an electrician.]
Installation
We mount the indoor unit, drill a single hole for the line set, set the condenser on an anchored pad and pull a vacuum before releasing the refrigerant.
Testing
We test the cooling, the drain and the remote, and show you the modes and how to wash the filters.
What to know about mini-splits
One zone or several
A single-zone mini-split has one condenser outside and one unit inside. A multi-zone system has one condenser and two, three or more indoor units, each with its own control. For two or three rooms next to each other, multi-zone is usually the better choice. For rooms far apart, two separate systems sometimes work out better.
The drain, done right from the start
The water the unit pulls out of the air has to drain by gravity or through a small pump. We sort it out before we finish, because a badly run drain is the most common cause of water stains on the wall.
Cleaning
The indoor unit’s filters are washed with water every [month]. Once a year it is worth deep cleaning the coil and the blower wheel, especially in Miami, where humidity makes mold grow.
Noise
A well-installed mini-split is barely audible indoors. The condenser does make noise, so we place it where it will not bother you or your neighbors.

Questions about mini-splits
How long does a mini-split installation take?
A single-zone unit takes [half a day to a day]. A multi-zone system takes [one or two days].
Do I need a new electrical circuit?

Can you install one in an apartment or condo?
Yes, if the association allows it. We bring the license and the paperwork the association asks for, and we coordinate access.
Do mini-splits use a lot of power?
Less than a window unit of the same size, because the compressor speeds up and slows down instead of switching on and off.
Do they heat too?
Most are heat pumps, so they also handle the few cold mornings Miami gets.
What maintenance do they need?
